The warm hands of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Cheonan Branch met at the Cheonan flood recovery site
On the 19th, 32 Shincheonji Volunteer Group Cheonan Branch volunteers were urgently deployed to the flood site in Gwangdeok-myeon, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam province. This recovery activity was carried out at the request of the Cheonan Volunteer Center, and they quickly went to find houses damaged by heavy rain and provided support.
The scene was literally catastrophic. The landslide had pushed mud into the house, and rocks had crashed into the house through the collapsed walls. A resident who saw the ground they had nurtured for their entire lives collapse in an instant said, “It was the very definition of despair.”
“This is the house I’ve nurtured for 13 years… Everything has collapsed.”
It tore me apart.
Volunteers worked hard, using shovels, brooms, and mops to remove the accumulated mud and dirt, cleaning the floors, and even moving the waste. Even though the weather was bad, everyone’s hands were warm and their sincerity was not clouded even in the rain.
One volunteer said, “It was a miserable scene that cannot be described in words, but I wanted to be of some help to those who were suffering.” The sincerity toward neighbors gave them the strength to overcome despair and stand up.
A resident who received the service also said, “It’s a miracle that there are people who help like this,” and that they regained hope.
The Cheonan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group will continue to respond quickly to difficulties faced by the local community and continue to work hard to provide practical comfort and help.
