Shincheonji Church of Jesus in Chungju hosts summer traditional Korean music performances and a happy meal for seniors.
Today, I'd like to share with you some news about a special traditional Korean music performance prepared by Chungju Church for seniors living alone during the holiday season.
On the 12th, the cafeteria at the Chungju Happy Angels office was decorated into a small concert hall. The sounds of the gayageum, taepyeongso, and hyangpiri filled the hearts of the elderly. This performance was organized by the Chungju Church of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, as part of its "Sharing a Happy Table" volunteer program.
"Sharing a Happy Table" is a local charity activity hosted by Happy Angels. Each month, they provide meals and check in on the well-being of approximately 100 seniors. Chungju Church has participated without fail for the past eight years. This time, in addition to providing meals, they prepared a traditional Korean music performance, giving the elderly a day like a vacation.
As familiar songs began to play, the seniors clapped, stood up, and danced, enjoying themselves. A Chungju Church official said, "We wanted to provide unforgettable summer memories for seniors who find it difficult to travel."
